Second update

Hello All,


I have an exciting new update. A few days ago I was able to purchase my ticket to Cambodia. This makes this upcoming trip so much more real. Thank you so much to those who have been praying as well as those who have supported financially. I am so much closer to my goal I have currently raised $2275.00 and need 725.00 more. Thank you so much!!! Again if you are still interested in giving scroll down to the first post where you will find all the information on giving.

Just one reminder I am having a desert party this upcoming Wednesday if you are interested in coming let me know. I am asking a five dollar donation and desert will be provided!

First Update

Hello!

I have a few updates:

First, my friends, Susan, Cathleen, Brandon and I are putting on a benefit concert at Solid Grounds on the 13th of January 2012. Mark your calendars, tell your friends, and come!

Second, a fundraising update. I am at $570 only $2930 left!  Look at the previous post for information on donating. Thank you all again so much!

Third, if you have a working point and shoot camera, that you don't use anymore, and would be willing to donate let me know. We need twenty. One for each girl in the Dream home.

Why Cambodia.......

I am going to Cambodia this upcoming January on the 20th through the 29th 2012. I am going there with Transitions Global, a non-profit organization that started a home in Phnom Pehn Cambodia for girls rescued out of sex trafficking. The home specializes in the after-care of these girls, providing counseling, eduction, job training, and support.

I will be traveling with 13 other people to spend time with the girls, see trafficking at its roots,and meet with other organizations in Cambodia fighting against human trafficking and slavery.

I currently volunteer with a non-profit, Not for Sale. They are an amazing organization that focuses on getting normal people involved in fighting human trafficking through their talents, skills, and interests. Through Not for Sale, I met Pam Harvey, a director with Transitions Global and heard about this upcoming trip. Through a lot of thought and prayer I decided to go. So, here I am.

I am writing this blog to keep you updated about what is going on with the trip and how you can be involved.

What I need to raise.

$1500 for the hotel, food and transportation while in Cambodia

$2000 aprox. and possibly more the longer I wait for a round trip ticket there and back.

For a total of $3500.

I have raised $500 so far-- thanks to so many of you!  Only $3000 more to go.

A few friends and I are planning on a couple of shows to raise money for this trip coming up in December and January so stay tuned for news on those.

Also if you are interested in supporting me on this trip, I have arranged with my church, Littleton Bible Chapel, that checks to be made out to them so that any money you give will be tax-deductible. Just one more note, really a praise of sorts. Some of you knew that I was also planning on going to Thailand to teach photography classes to kids in a home supported by Not for Sale. I learned recently that this part of the trip will not be happening, due to the timing, but Not for Sale is excited about the idea and it might work out in April 2012. Just having an answer either way was a blessing, and the fact that they are still interested is exciting. Thank you so much to all who were praying about this!
